Citadel of Belfort
If you are passing through Belfort, the citadel is a stop you cannot miss.
The place breathes history and impresses with its grandeur. Some walking will be required to fully enjoy the citadel and more particularly its main building, but you will be rewarded with a breathtaking view of Belfort!
The view is breathtaking from the heights and throughout the visit. We escape the time of a visit and a long walk (lots of things to see, plan a good day to do everything as well as good shoes), green spaces, monuments, century-old trees, underground passages , the lion, the museum… It is a very quiet and soothing place. Walk suitable for young children. A crazy charm, the citadel has survived time and all events. Possibility to eat inside and there are also toilets during the walk.

Belfort History Museum
The Belfort museums are a group of museums and temporary exhibition halls belonging to the city of Belfort and managed jointly. The museum tells the story of Belfort, Belfort has a long and eventful history. The first written record of the city dates back to the year 534, when it was known as Murocortorum. It was then captured by the Franks in 765, and became an important border fortress. In 887 it was besieged by the Normans, but was successfully defended by its inhabitants. Over the centuries, Belfort changed hands several times between France and other European powers. In 1814 it was annexed by France after the defeat of Napoleon Bonaparte. Today, Belfort is a prosperous city with more than 50,000 inhabitants. It is known for its medieval castles, beautiful parks and lively cultural life.

Forge Pond
The Etang des Forges is a body of water with an area of 30 hectares located in the municipalities of Belfort and Offemont.
An ideal pond for family walks. A pleasant place and the route around the pond is possible with a stroller.
The landscape is great and you quickly feel out of place. Small adjoining car park of about 15 places but otherwise possibility of finding parking easily.
This place is a small corner of paradise (calm and greenery) in the city of Belfort, rejuvenating, possibility of walking all around the lake (on foot or by bike) landscaped path, wooden tables are present with garbage cans several places to come and have a picnic, for example.
Possibility to approach the water and to sit right on the edge of the lake in certain places, swimming is not authorized there, animals are allowed. Some people also come to fish in the pond.
If you are looking for a quiet place, 2 steps from the city, do not hesitate to go there. Unlike the lake of Malsaucy which is much larger with the possibility of swimming there but much more frequented.
